Last day in Mallorca, Back to London - 16th October 2017

There is a bit of cloud about this morning. Sadly, we are leaving Mallorca this afternoon. Beds are stripped, towels are washed, bathrooms cleaned.
We laze about a bit, making the most of things, in between tidying and packing. The cloud burns off and the sky is perfect blue.

Jill and I walk to Eroski, the local supermarket. We get some bits and pieces to make some filled rolls for the plane journey home (Easyjet, our rolls will be far superior to your offering!), and top up some supplies.
The prices are ridiculously cheap. Local wine for €3 (less than NZ$5, and it’s good), loaves of delicious everyday handmade designer bread in a brown paper bag for €1.  Intriguingly, a regular white sliced loaf in plastic is dearer.  Jamon ham costs a mere  €1.50.  Everything is cheap ... produce, cheese, booze, household necessities. It really makes me cringe to think of the equivalent prices in NZ, aka rip-off land. Toiletries are somewhat on a par, but food and general items are a steal. I want to buy everything, it’s all such a bargain and Mediterranean-style delicious. But that is not an option.

The day is hot, and fairly humid. We walk back along the seafront. We relax for a little longer before the outdoor furniture is covered and stored and then we reluctantly lock up, and hop in a taxi to the airport, about 10 minutes away.
Check in, on board, take off, fly for two hours. Reflect on a few great days of R&R.

Soon enough we are back at Gatwick, picking up the car from the Purple Parking place. It's much easier to leave than to find and soon we are heading back to Kingston. We are knackered. It is dark. The temperature is cool. We go to bed.
We wish we were at a seafront bar.

OBSERVATION OF THE DAY:
Good grief, I do declare this has been an AFD - that rather rare thing, an alcohol-free day. Not even a beer passed my lips. Yes folks, it does happen! Even on holiday!
